We work with Indie authors who, in addition to their own writing, enjoy translating the work of others or would like to earn extra money, and are willing to work on a 'no cure, no pay' basis. So. There it is; the only 'catch' in the grass!
Are you a published, Indie author looking for a way to expand your sales area? Send us an email and we will contact you about our possibilites:
service@transfiction.nl
Are you an author or freelancer interested in translating Indie stories? Please continue reading...
If you have 'proven suitability' (we'll get to it in a minute ...) you will receive a proposal, usually a series, of work that must be translated from English into Dutch. Do you master even more languages? We also mediate for translation assignments from / to other languages such as French, Spanish, etc. You will receive an assignment confirmation for each series. This includes the royalty percentage, the term of delivery and other conditions.
The fee differs per author / publisher. Payment is based on royalties only and is made afterwards. Again: No cure, no pay. So no advance and no fixed compensation! However, we pay fast and well! That is also laid down in the agreement. We only work with authors who have already proven their worth. Successful writers with demonstrable sales results (abroad). As more books in the series you have translated become available, the earnings will of course become more interesting.
If you have already published books yourself, you know that the payment term varies by distributor, but usually takes 60-90 days. Depending on the number of distributors where the works you translated have been published, you may receive multiple payments per month. The more books that are sold, the more you earn.
The relevant Indie author or Indie Publisher, together with us, takes care of the publication and promotion of the work. All books are also mentioned on this website and in our newsletter. We assume that you also write yourself. A nice side effect of this work is that your name appears as a translator on the websites of Amazon, for example. This way more people will be able to find your work. To increase this findability ('discoverability' as Indies call it) even more, we also offer you the option of mentioning your work in the newsletter and on the Transfiction website.
Does this all sound interesting? Then we have to talk about 'proven suitability'. Who are we looking for? Are you willing to work with us for a longer period of time? Translate one or more series? Would you like to help promote foreign Indies Authors here, in the Netherlands and Belgium? And do you master one or more languages? Then send us an email:
service@transfiction.nl
. We will check whether there is 'a match' and whether a suitable series is (or will be) available for you. So. To work! Send us an email and who knows, we may speak soon.
